Energy 102.3 Gets Presidential Recognition for 102 Miles of Energy!
May 4, 2016 – Alpha Media, Peoria, IL announced they received Presidential recognition for the 102 Miles of Energy charitable run. WNGY’s Lucky The DJ ran 102 miles in 102 hours to generate awareness for child abuse. On Day 4 of 102 Miles the station received an email from the White House thanking them for their efforts.
Title sponsors, Chick-fil-A and Crittenton Centers were an instrumental part in making this run a success. On the last day of the race listeners were encouraged to bring a donation to the “Paint Peoria Blue” party at Chick-fil-A. With any donation of a basic needs supply the listener was given a free Chick-fil-A chicken sandwich meal. All donations benefitted the Crittenton Centers. In the end, over $1200 worth of items such as diapers, wipes, formula, clothes, supplies, and more were collected. This will be able to help over 100 families.
Members of the community came out to share their stories and join the cause. A few even put on their running shoes and strode alongside Lucky.
Alpha Media SVP Market Manger, Mike Wild commented on the announcement, “It is amazing how strongly Lucky feels about this cause. I noticed more of an emotional impact on him than a physical one. I am very proud of him and all of the staff that helped him succeed.”
Energy 102.3’s Lucky The DJ had the following to say about his journey, “The past week was crazy with a ton of different people who helped and showed up to support us. Even though the mileage is done the message doesn’t stop, it shouldn’t hurt to be a child. It’s up to us as a community to make sure that every child is safe.”
“Thanks to Energy 102.3 and all of the community members who came out to Chick-fil-A with donations of much needed formula and diapers for families using our Crisis Nursery,” remarked Sandy Garza, Crittenton Centers Development & Marketing Director.
“This event was a great example of three different organizations that came together for a common purpose. Thank you Energy 102.3 and Crittenton Centers for helping Chick-fil-A Peoria make a difference in our community,” added Jason Counselman, Owner/Operator Chick-fil-A Peoria.Back To Press Releases
