Alpha Media, Fredericksburg Assists Furloughed Government Employees
Alpha Media, Fredericksburg, VA. stations (WFLS, WVBX, WWUZ, and WNTX) created a web page with listings of businesses from the Fredericksburg, Northern Virginia and Southern Maryland areas that are assisting federal workers during the government shutdown.
Many businesses are coming together to help the community during this time in need by providing free or reduced fee meals, services, groceries, and even temporary employment opportunities. The list is growing every few minutes. The community support is one of the main reasons this area is one of the best places to live. The list of services can be found on the station websites and social media pages.
Alpha Media, Fredericksburg Market Manager, Beth Vickers commented on the announcement, “The Washington DC market is severely affected by the furlough. We feel Alpha Media, Fredericksburg has a duty to provide support and information to government workers and their families during this time.”
“We reached out to our listeners with on-air announcements and social networking to help us create a web page which spotlights area businesses who are offering products and services to government employees and their families. The response from our market has been incredible and that web page list continues to grow,” remarked Bill West, WFLS Content Director.
