Alpha Media sponsors “The Shape of Shreveport” Documentary series & helps raise over $28,000
The over-flowing Red River didn’t stop people from a movie premiere on Thursday as over 1600 people flooded the Strand Theatre.
The Alpha Media Shreveport team was proud to be the sole media sponsor at the premiere of “The Shape of Shreveport”, a series of stories created by Will & Jim Broyles bringing an educational, entertaining, historically relevant set of stories to the public. Directed by Chris Charles Scott and produced by Chris Lyon, these first four episodes are tales that all walks of life can relate to and take pride in. Shreveport & Bossier City, LA comprises an area rich in history from the original Caddo-Adai tribal settlement to the clearing of the 180-mile log jam along the Red River known as the “Great Raft”.
The Shape of Shreveport Series, which included a panel discussion, is intended to bring Shreveport’s diverse culture together and gain a better understanding of the history of their city. There will be fifteen to twenty shown throughout the year. Alpha Media Shreveport teamed up with the Broyles Group to raise over $28,000 for the historic Strand Theatre. On the National Register of Historic Buildings, the “Million Dollar Theatre” was opened July 3, 1925. The theatre was air conditioned, and in the early days had its own full time orchestra on staff. Since the 1980’s The Strand has been in a constant state of renovation.
Alpha Media Shreveport Market Manager Cary Camp commented, “This event represents what Alpha Media Shreveport embraces; community involvement. Over $28,000 was raised for the local community, partnering with the local company the Broyles Group. It was a pleasure to work with such a committed group of young up-and-coming community leaders.”
Johnette Robinson, Local Sales Manager, said, “When we were first approached with this idea of a documentary series, we had no idea that the response from the community would be this great. We are delighted to be the exclusive media partner for the Shape of Shreveport, and the proceeds from every ticket sold, would go back into the maintenance of the historic Strand Theatre. Raising that amount of money shows that our community loves and supports their city.”
