BOB 106.9’s Tim Leary Helps Raise More Than $2000 For The American Diabetes Association

Savannah/Hilton Head; New Country BOB 106.9 (WUBB/Alpha Media)’s Tim Leary (Tim Leary and the Morning  Showgram/20 Twenty Country Countdown) took on WJCL-TV (ABC affiliate) sports director Frank “The Big Guy” Sulkowski in a jalapeño-eating contest benefitting the American Diabetes Association. The event drew more than 100 people to Jalapeño’s Mexican Grill in Pooler, GA and raised over $2,000 for the charity.

During the event, each personality was presented with a plate of five, six-inch flash fried jalapeño peppers – the challenge being who could consume the most jalapeños in one minute.

Alpha Media Executive VP of Programming, Scott Mahalick commented on the event, “There’s no limit to what Tim will do in the name of helping those in need. He truly has one of the biggest hearts in the radio industry today.”

“I love being a part of something I promise I’ll never do again,” says winner Tim Leary who consumed four-and-a-half jalapeños to Sulkowski’s one-and-a-half. “But it’s awesome that we could raise that much money for the American Diabetes Association.”

Morning Showgram/20Twenty Countdown co-host Karen Daiss videotaped the event and claims, “This was definitely the dumbest yet most entertaining thing I’ve seen Tim [Leary] do – this man will sacrifice his body for a worthy cause.”
